Fall in Seattle – it’s Seahawks Season!

Posted September 17, 2019

Fall in Seattle means Seahawks Season!

No question, Puget Sound and McCormick residents love our Seattle Seahawks.  If you happen to cheer for another NFL team we still have helpful kickoff information for you!   Though we believe you’ll come around to be a 12 (Hawks fan) in no time! To that end, we love football!  One of our most favorite seasons has made its way back again and everyone is ready to watch the Seahawks make another strive towards The Superbowl.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks seem more prepared and fired up than ever and what better way to watch the game than at Century Link field in downtown Seattle. Come enjoy the game in the stadium with a delicious Seattle dog or try the crazy fried crickets.   Don’t have tickets?  Doesn’t matter!  You can just join in with the energetic crowds in lively restaurants and bars around the stadium instead.  All TVs will be tuned into the game.

Take the Ferry to the Game

What’s best about it all, living at McCormick you can take the Bremerton/Seattle Ferry and be dropped off just across from the stadium.  It’s a peaceful ride to the game, the ferry will be full of Hawks fans getting excited, and you don’t have to worry one bit about parking and traffic.  The ferries are currently operating on a Summer schedule and will change to their Fall schedule at the end of the month.    For a 1:25pm kickoff, we recommend getting on the 11:10am ferry, or earlier if you want to enjoy the pregame festivities even more!  The ferry ride is an hour, and an absolutely stunning way to enter the Emerald City and all its glory.  For those of you familiar with ferry transportation in other metropolitan areas like the San Francisco Bay area, liken this to taking the Ferry from Marin County to the San Francisco Giants game.  What a fun experience!

To take the Ferry, this is what you need to know:

  1. Tickets:

For walk-on passengers, you’ll purchase your ticket in Seattle upon return to Bremerton.  Single trip tickets cost anywhere from $4.25 to $8.50 depending on age, and there are discounts when you buy in bulk or have an ORCA pass if you are a frequent rider!  The great thing about walk-on passengers is you will get on the ferry.  While drive-on passengers have to wait in a queue and depending on the number of cars may have to wait for a later sailing, walk-on passengers can meander their way on the boat and relax on the sun deck or passenger deck.  Grab a cup of coffee, read the paper, enjoy the view.  You may even find a Seahawks cookie in the cafeteria onboard!  This is the best way to see the Hawks!

  2. Parking in Bremerton

Make sure to get to the Bremerton dock with enough time to find parking and make the sailing you are planning for!  According to the WSDOT who operate the ferries, there are many parking lots near the Bremerton terminal, all are within 3.5 blocks of the terminal. Time and price options are posted at each lot. All offer 24-hour rates for overnight or extended stays. Parking is also available under the Bremerton Hotel/Conference Center and city garage three blocks north of the terminal. For more information contact Impark Parking Services at 360-616-4808 or at the City of Bremerton website.

  3. Arrival at the Seattle Dock

When you arrive in Seattle, you’ll likely have a crowd to follow to the stadium which is just a few blocks away.  It’s a great way to get pumped up!   See the Seahawks website for more information on game-day transport.   You just over half of a mile walk from the stadium when you dock in Seattle.

  4. Pre-Game Fun with Pubs, Bars, and Restaurants near the Stadium

    1. Pyramid Alehouse and Brewery,  Iconic Pale Ale, but food and other beverage choices abound!
    2. Hawks Nest Bar, created by a local fan to bring the ultimate Seattle sports bar experience. Decked out in Seattle sports gear and surrounded with TVs, and unique fan artwork, you won’t find a bad seat in the house!
    3. Sluggers Seattle, great American Sportsbar.
    4. Triangle Pub, located in a 1910 landmark flatiron building, it’s just 5-minute walk from the stadium.  Be prepared to be friendly – it is one of Seattle’s smallest bars.
    5. Altstadt, German hospitality with incredible food and drink choices!  If you arrive early, enjoy the atmosphere outside the stadium.  There are numerous fantastic pubs and sports bars nearby where you can grab a pre-game beverage and bite to eat.  Here are some favorites:
  5. Return Home to McCormick

When the game is done, head back to the dock, and catch the next sailing home.  Hopefully it will follow a WIN, which case, expect buzz and excitement to continue!   Regardless of the outcome, leave the big city traffic and noise behind, and enjoy the beautiful scenic ride and fresh saltwater air as you sail home to your escape in the woods at McCormick.   Good news, you can return again for the next Seahawks game.

Hawks Games from Home

If ticket availability or other commitments keep you away from attending the game in person, don’t worry as you have two options here at McCormick very close to enjoy it!

  1. Sit back and relax on your couch, watching the game with a warm fire blazing in your cozy home at McCormick.  McCormick offers fast fiber internet through Wave Broadband to stream the game from home.
  2. Stop by the McCormick Woods Clubhouse and enjoy a wonderful meal and drink in the bar while watching the game!  This way you can still enjoy with neighbors and meet fellow 12s, but enjoy a leisurely walk home in minutes.
