Make Your Holidays Merry and Bright with Local Community Events

All at once, the holidays are upon us! This is an exciting and special time of year for many. On behalf of everyone at McCormick, we’d like to wish you a happy holiday season. If you’re looking for ways to get into the holiday spirit in Kitsap County, check out these exciting winter events.

There’s much to do in Port Orchard and beyond this holiday season — from shopping for handmade, locally made gifts to taking horse-drawn carriage rides. Make sure to bring the whole family!­ The community spirit shines all around McCormick and the Kitsap Peninsula during the holiday season. From craft fairs to tree lightings to pet parades, there’s something to do for all ages. Here’s a short list of our favorite events in the Port Orchard area and beyond.

Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15
6:00pm – 9:30pm
Bremerton Lighted Boat Parade

On Friday December 15th and Saturday December 16th, come on out to see a fleet of lighted boats pass by in Bremerton on the Phinney Bay, Sinclair Inlet, Port Washington Narrows, and more local spots along the water! You can even sign up to have Santa Claus call out your name.

December 15 – January 6
Tiny Town, Big Memories – Holiday Village at Bloedel Reserve

This is a magical time to visit the Reserve’s grounds, which feature an enchanting garden. Discover the magic of Holiday Village at Bloedel, an imaginative tiny town that brings home big memories. Enjoy the wonder and charm of a miniature town, handcrafted and intricately designed with beautiful buildings and trains. Held at the Residence in Bainbridge , this beloved local event is sure to engage your imagination. Intricately designed, hand-made pint-size palaces, tree houses, and cabins ‘Wow!” the young and young-at-heart. Model trains chug around the village, fragrant cider simmers, and the Residence is decked to the nines. It’s a holiday tradition for all ages.

Solstice Walks at Bloedel Reserve

Join us as we make the darkest days of the year a little brighter with a candle-lit walk through Bloedel Reserve. Imagine what deer, raccoon and owls will think when they see a parade of lanterns traipsing the trails…this magical event is one of Bloedel’s most popular events of the year!

Due to high demand and community feedback, we are offering two Solstice experiences: Family-Friendly Walks and Silent Walks.
All walks begin at the Gatehouse and take place rain or shine. The only light will be from our candles. Please wear proper clothing & footwear and exercise caution.

Register here: Doors at 4:30 pm.  Walks begin at 5:30.

SPECIAL EVENT COST FOR ALL MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS
Adult: $17 | Child (6 – 16): $5 | Child (5 & under): Free

 

Friday, December 21 – 7-9:30pm
“The Polar Express” on the Big Screen
Admiral Theatre, 515 Pacific Avenue, Bremerton

Bring the family to Bremerton’s one-of-a-kind Admiral Theatre for $6 Movie Night: The Polar Express, part of the theater’s film series. You don’t just get to watch this visually stunning, heartwarming film on the big screen, but you’ll also have a blast at Admiral’s “semi-slumber” party. That’s right, come in your pajamas, if you wish — and make sure to treat everyone at the hot-chocolate bar.
